Job Title: Marketing and Fundraising Intern

Overview:
As a Marketing and Fundraising Intern at Sandton SPCA, you’ll support our marketing and fundraising efforts through desktop research, phone outreach, and assisting with funding requests for smaller ad-hoc projects.
You’ll gain valuable experience in donor engagement, event coordination, and contributing to essential fundraising initiatives that support our mission to prevent cruelty to animals and promote their welfare.
Key Responsibilities: •
Desktop Research & Donor Identification:
- Conduct research to identify potential individual, corporate, and institutional donors for various fundraising initiatives.
- Compile contact lists and track trends to identify opportunities for funding, sponsorships, and partnerships.
Donor Engagement & Tele-Sales:
- Use phone outreach to engage with existing and potential donors, encouraging them to contribute to Sandton SPCA through monthly donations, one-time sponsorships, or other fundraising opportunities.
- Keep detailed records of all interactions and follow up as needed.
Funding Requests for Ad-Hoc Projects:
- Assist in preparing and sending funding requests for smaller, ad-hoc projects such as specific animal care needs, community outreach programs, or special initiatives.
- Research relevant potential funders and tailor proposals to their interests.
Fundraising Campaign Support:
- Conduct research to find new leads and reach out by phone to promote fundraising campaigns encouraging participation and expanding support.
- Event Support: Help secure sponsors, raffle prizes, and donations for fundraising events, such as Golf Day, through phone calls and online research.
- Assist in promoting event participation and ensuring event success.
General Donations Management:
- Support the tracking of donor contributions, including debit order donations and general fundraising efforts.
- Conduct follow-up calls with donors to ensure their continued support and resolve any issues.
Community Outreach & Schools Program:
- Research local schools and community organizations to find opportunities for outreach and collaboration.
- Conduct phone calls to arrange visits, raise awareness, and promote Sandton SPCA’s work.
Skills & Knowledge Required:
- Strong communication skills, especially over the phone.
- Proficient in online research and compiling data.
- Ability to assist with writing and sending funding requests for small projects.
- Excellent organizational skills, with attention to detail in managing donor information and follow-ups.
- Basic understanding of fundraising, with a willingness to learn more.
- Passion for animal welfare and a desire to make a positive impact.
- Self-motivated and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
- Be able to present and speak in public
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated with a degree in Marketing, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
- No prior experience is required, but an interest in research, tele-sales, and nonprofit fundraising is essential.
