As a Production Intern at Lucky Fish Events, your roles and responsibilities are not always limited to onsite production, but would include a combination of other tasks to ensure that the project you are involved with, or a project owned by Lucky Fish is delivered successfully and to the expectations of Lucky Fish Events standards.
As a Production Intern you will assist the Operations Manager or Project Manager leading specific projects, making sure that all tasks are completed prior to submission of applications and producing the event.
Internship: Period: 1 November - 31 March
Location: Remote, with 2 weekly meetings
Payment: This is not a paid internship.
PRODUCTION INTERN ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Here are a number of general roles and responsibilities. They are listed below, but not limited to:
Admin Admin responsibilities are overarching requirements on all projects and may include a number of duties required for this position. Also see “Pre-Production” section below.
- Quotation requests – when needed
- Suppliers briefs
- Supplier confirmations
- Communication with Marketing delegate regarding brand and printing requirements
- Communication with Sponsorship delegate regarding sponsors requirements
- Load-in schedules
- Admin requirements during event submission and applications procedure
Production: Production related tasks may be allocated to you as required per project.
This would include duties and functions performed during the pre-production period and onsite management. These tasks are categorized as follows:
- General
- Weekly or as requested in person progress reports, with Production Manager
- Constant update of online Project Management Progress folder
- Store all event related documentation, quotations and invoices in allocated project production folder
- Pre-Production
- Quotations as required per project
- Documentation preparations for Events Departments and other authorities. See admin.
- Logistics Planning, with a detailed Load-in and Load-out Schedule.
- Logistics communication to all suppliers, sponsors and production role players.
- This would include communication to the project Safety Officer.
- Supplier acquisition and management.
- Staff Planning if required.
Onsite-Management
As a Production Intern you may be required at times to manage logistics based on load in schedules and these duties may include the following:
- Manage Load-in and Load-out of all suppliers, sponsors and event partners.
- Manage production schedule to ensure that venue will be ready for SAPS and other local authorities walk through, as required.
- Overview of event staff to ensure that everyone is in place
- Safely open event venue.
- Monitor general flow of the event and event space and make changes if required.
- Monitor movements at the entrance to ensure a reasonable flow.
- Manage the Load-Out onsite and do a venue handover with the property owner of venue manager
- Manage event entrance and accreditation if the project requires it.
Travel
- Travelling may be required for site visits and or meetings with authorities within the area we are planning to host a project or event.
- Travelling expenses will be covered, by presenting related slips to accounting.
Office Hours
- As a Production Intern we will require a check-in twice a week to regular online meetings as may be needed, to discuss progress and status updates on projects. This may also increase as we get closer to projects.

- Driving: Driving to event venue may be remote at times and driving would be required. Note that your position as production intern would not be limited to the aforementioned projects and may change as projects change, but your roles and responsibilities will always be as indicated above.
- PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES: As a production Intern you may be required to sometimes work late and long hours, but you will be immersed in a vibrant and very rewarding setting. The rest of the team are all real OG's in their various positions and you have an opportunity to learn a lot about the festival and event industry, hands-on.
