The position is first and foremost social media and digital marketing focussed. The ideal candidate would be someone who lives in or around Hoedspruit, available full time and who is also able to help with content creation and fundraising campaigns.
However, we are also open for this to be a remote position, with someone else responsible for content creation on location.
The candidate would then be in touch with local content creator, and develop social media campaigns, schedules, newsletters, and blog development in collaboration with our research & field teams.
Interested candidates that do not have expertise in all of the listed requirements can still apply and point out any tasks they are not comfortable taking on immediately.
We are flexible and will find a way to reallocate to a local content creator or another staff member. There will be a minimum 2 week on-boarding period, so candidates will not be left to their own devices.
The salary will be in line with experience level of the selected candidate and will be discussed during interview.
The candidate needs to be well-spoken, able to write copy in line with our brand voice, have an affinity for elephant conservation, research and community outreach, and a natural inclination for conveying potentially politically sensitive issues (diplomatically and sensibly manage comments and questions that may arise on our social media or via email).
They need to familiarise themselves with our extensive portfolio of conservation and community projects, as well as the 30-year history of our organisation.
Elephants Alive is a research based NGO, with an internationally respected authority on elephant conservation, elephant tracking and innovative human-elephant conflict solutions. This position will offer an excellent opportunity for those willing to gain extensive digital marketing experience for charities and non-profit organisations in the wider conservation and community outreach sphere.
