Job Title: Junior Social Media Manager
Location: Dragons Sports Head Office, Paarden Eiland, Cape Town
Job Type: Part-time/Contract (Ideal for students studying part-time)
About the Role: Dragons Sports, a leading distributor of top cycling brands, is looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Junior Social Media Manager to join our team. This role is perfect for an active cyclist who understands the cycling industry and has experience managing branded social media content. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing social media channels, creating content plans, and supporting digital marketing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and execute social media content across platforms, including but not limited to Facebook and Instagram.Brands: Giant Bicycles, Liv Bicycles, Avalanche Bicycles, Cadex, ENVE, Northwave
- Develop and implement content plans using both global content provided by our brand partners and locally created content.
- Capture photographs and videos at events, photoshoots, and activations; basic video editing for reels is a bonus.
- Attend events to document and promote the activities on the various branded social accounts
- Engage with the online community, responding to messages, comments, and inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Assist in planning and executing social media campaigns that drive engagement and brand awareness.
- Support performance marketing efforts on Meta (Facebook & Instagram) and Google Ads, with the eagerness to learn and develop skills in this area.
- Track and analyze social media performance using insights and reporting tools to optimize content strategies.
- Provide a monthly social media report to the Marketing Manager.
Requirements:
- Must be an active cyclist with a deep understanding of bicycles, cycling culture, and the cycling industry.
- Currently studying part-time in a related field (e.g., Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a relevant field).
- Proven experience managing branded social media content for a company, brand, or organization.
- Strong understanding of social media management, including scheduling, community engagement, and content creation.
- Hands-on experience with Meta Business Suite and knowledge of social media best practices.
- Basic photography and videography skills, with the ability to capture compelling content on the go.
- Basic video editing skills (especially for reels and short-form content) are an advantage.
- Familiarity with graphic design tools like Canva, Adobe Photoshop, or similar software.
- A self-starter with excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Passion for cycling and outdoor sports is essential.
Bonus Skills (Not Required but Preferred):
- Previous experience running paid social media ads on Meta and Google.
- Experience working with influencers or brand ambassadors in the cycling industry.
