This honours qualification develops and polishes the ability to generate and execute creative concepts that contribute to business performance. The student furthermore develops critical thinking skills and a brand-strategy orientation.
The programme is aimed at students who wish to develop their conceptualisation and creative communication skills.
Entry Criteria:
• Appropriate Bachelors degree
• Applicants will be required to complete an entrance challenge, 1 000 word essay and an interview
• Applicants will be required to submit a creative portfolio
Breakdown:
MODULE 1: BRAND AND BRAND BUILDING
This module focuses on the context of the brand and the core components of brand building. Brand identity, architecture, equity and contact integration are investigated, and a diverse range of industry guests present current brand realities.
MODULE 2: ALCHEMY
Alchemy explores and integrates Creative Development, Critical Studies and Research Methodologies to drive innovative thinking and practice. Alchemy creates pioneering problem solvers who investigate relevant issues, adding new and provocative insights into brand strategy. Students develop a mini-thesis and creative activation in answer to their Alchemy process.
MODULE 3: CREATIVE BRAND COMMUNICATIONS
Students explore their creativity, strengthen their concept development and craft specialisation skills through an integrated set of real-life briefs, filed encounters, workshops and industry presentations. The creative output is a holistic portfolio within/across specific creative applications: Copywriting, Multimedia Design or Visual Communications. Students work on real-life brand challenges within simulated agency teams and the year culminates in a four-week industry internship.
