Life after Vega

How we skill people for the workplace extends beyond just attending a degree programme. Vega has incorporated internships into our official curriculum to help ease students into their marketing and advertising jobs.

Our third year students do a one-month internship in November, before they graduate and our Honours students a month internship in October. Often students secure a fulltime position at the particular company or agency where they've done their internship.

Vega is in frequent contact with coroporates and agencies and we have created a support structure through which we promote a mutual awareness between the advertising and communications industry and our students.

The Imagination Lab internship offers companies continued support after an intern has been placed. The unique programme offers work related skills such as time management; teamwork and work ethic skills that fully support companies in further training after interns have been placed.

By employing Imagination Lab interns, companies or advertising agencies can take full advantage of the unique resource these students provide, contribute to skills transfer to the disadvantaged sector and increase their BEE profiles.

Flagship companies who have participated in the programme have had significant successes. More than 700 students have passed through the Imagination Lab since its inception with a large amount being placed into fulltime positions.
