Vega Partners
Vega has a myriad of partners from corporate, government and the industry.
We see partnerships as an essential network in guiding academia and the strategic direction of Vega, ensuring industry relevance and in obtaining feedback with regards to student work. Find out How to Get Involved.
The National Advisory Council has to ensure that the vision, mission and value character of the School is carried out. It has also been selected to ensure representation of relevant branding, advertising and marketing industry expertise, and to represent individuals able to provide an academic overview on the various programmes. The National Advisory Council has a mandate from the Independent Institute of Education (IIE) and there is close liaison between this Council, the IIE Senate and the AdVtech Academic Advisory Council.
Three Regional Advisory Councils feed into the National Advisory Council. The roles of Regional Advisory Councils include:
- Helping to ensure that the vision, purpose and value character of the School is upheld on the specific campus.
- The overseeing of the quality, quantity and experience of the Vega learning process.
- Benchmarking student outputs regionally.
- Contributing to building the Vega brand by guiding the campus on issues such as marketing, internships, partnerships, career placement and local industry input.
- Ensuring representation of relevant branding, business, marketing and advertising industry expertise.
- Harnessing local opportunities and industry support to add value to the Vega student learning experience.
Vega in conjunction with Apple, have established regional training centres on the Jozi, Durbz and IKapa Vega campuses. The objective of the project is to provide free education and training for teachers. Apple and Vega feel that South Africa needs innovative educators to equip learners to face the challenges facing the country. Today's learners are tomorrow's citizens and in order to compete in an increasingly globalised world, their teachers need to passionately embrace new ideas, new technology and new methodologies.
In addition to partnering on the Regional Training Centre (link) initiative Vega provides discounts to all registered Vega students. To access the Vega - Apple online store visit: http://vega.zastore.co.za.
The Imagination Lab is a Vega and CAFÉ (Communications and Advertising Forum for Empowerment) initiative that was launched in 2003. It gives matriculants from disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunity to explore the creative world and open their eyes to the variety of dynamic career options available to them.
The success of the Labs can be attributed to the staff who run them as well as to our partners. We would like to thank The Jupiter Drawing Room for sponsoring the Innercity Lab and Primedia Unlimited for sponsoring the Soweto Lab. Both organisations have been extremely generous in sponsoring both the start up as well as in supporting operations. In addition to this their staff volunteer as lecturers for the Lab.
We would also like to extend our appreciation Old Shanghai and DraftFCB for their ongoing support of the Alex Lab.
Thank you to VWV for contributing over R45 000 to the fund and will partner in developing the first "experiential branding" module. In addition to this between one and three final year students will be chosen as part of the end year internship program at VWV.
