Our iKapa Campus, located in the heart of Cape Town, caters to one of the most vibrant branding communities in South Africa. Below are some of the familiar faces around campus.
Dr Carla Enslin
Carla is one of the founding members of Vega. She is Vega's National Academic Navigator and heads the campus in Greenpoint, Cape Town. Carla's passion is working with corporate teams and Vega students in brand identity development and creative strategic thinking.
Carmen Schaefer
Carmen is a design navigator at Vega. She is currently working towards her Masters degree in Digital Art at WITS and has a BA(FA) with specialization in information design from UP. She loves to facebook and can otherwise be found reading Jane Austen novels whilst in a yoga asana AND stroking her cat.
Carol Gainer
Carol-anne is a Visual Communications Navigator for Vega Cape Town. She has extensiveteaching experience in the field of visual communications from fine art through to applied design and within more traditional graphic design programmes. Carol-anne is a practicing contemporary artist who regularly exhibits both within South Africa and aboard, she loves travelling and is passionate about the welfare of animals and the environment and thinks that living in Cape Town rocks!
Charles Lee-Thorp
Charles is a Multimedia Navigator on the Cape Town campus. He has a B.Tech Honours degree in Graphic Design from CPUT and is currently working towards his Masters in Design, specialising in interactivity. He maintains a blog "simstim.co.za" where he documents some of the weird and wonderful goings-on of the web. Charles's time spent in the far East made quiet an impression. Nowadays he can be seen buzzing around cape town on his Vespa hunting down unheard of vegetables for his "authentic" Chinese dinners. He is also a greentea fundi, which he makes in a tiny little clay pot in his office and drinks out of even tinier cups.
Gail Walmsley
Gail is the National Relationship Navigator for Vega. Hailing from a creative background, Gail has moved through the advertising industry and into the education sector. A closet performer, she enjoys talking 'branding' at schools, universities and to anyone who will listen, really. In her spare time she teaches Nia in a dance studio to both young and old. Mostly you canfind her in her office, on the phone tending enquiries or watching over Vega's little darlings, awaiting the moment they take flight!
Janet Small
Janet is currently the Vega Orbit Navigator and moving into Relationship navigation from 2009. In her spare time she loves salsa dancing and being close to the ocean! She is also a qualified beauty therapist from Witwatersrand Technicon.
Klasi Coetzee
Herculas is a free range boytjie from Mafikeng. He practically grew up on his grandfather's farm - which explains his love for thorn trees and the bush. He completed his BA(DRAMA)Honours at the University of Pretoria. After and during the slow death of the Performing Arts Councils he was a free lance actor, writer, dancer and director. He did almost anything thing to pay the rent and stay off the streets. He even managed the Little theatre in Pretoria for eight years. He has a very colourful Curriculum Vitae. He teaches Copywriting at Vega Cape Town.
Lizelle de Villiers
Lizelle is a Visual Communications Navigator for Vega Cape Town. She has a diploma in Visual Communications from AAA and is currently studying for a BA degree in Psychology and English literature. She worked as both Art Director and Designer over the past 8 years at various agencies such as Saatchi & Saatchi and FCB. She is busy writing and illustration a children's book. She adores her dog Tjoppie - a ferocious Miniature Pincher.
Marc Hosten
Marc is the National Field Navigator for Copy and is based in the Cape Town Campus. He completed his BA Honours in Film and Theatre Studies at the University of Pretoria, specializing in Creative Writing. He is currently working on his Masters in Creative writing. 18 productions of Marc's 15 plays have been produced across the country, and he has received many awards and nominations. Before coming to Vega he lectured at UNISA, the Universities of Pretoria and Stellenbosch and was Creative Faculty Head at the AAA School of Advertising. When time allows Marc freelances for magazines, agencies and various brands. He loves nature, especially the African bush.
Mbasa Javu
Mbasa is an Orbit Support Navigator. She studied Social Sciences Psychology in Pretoria University. And due to her passion for extra ordinary pictures she was summoned to further her interest in Photography. She assist with the smooth running of the Photography College in the Cape Town Campus In her spare time you will find her, relaxing and enjoying a good book or listening to Music.
Richard Kilpert
Richard's creative development class is called Lost & Found. He has a BA Fine Art degree in print making from Rhodes and has studied interactive digital media at Wits. He has a background in social development work, having been director of the Ilitha Arts Education Project (Eastern Cape) and the Imagination Lab (Gauteng). Richard loves traditional print making and kineticart machines, has exhibited in Paris, Liverpool and Nieu-Bethesda and declared March 23rd "Jour International des Popcorn".
Relebohile Lethunya
Relebohile is the Contact Navigator; she has ND Marketing Management from CPUT (Cape Peninsula University of Technology). She will be doing her B.TechMarketing next year and enjoys comedy, music and travelling.
Thys de Beer
Thys is the Brand Strategy Navigator at Vega Cape Town as well as SubjectNavigator for Brand Strategy 2. Thys was also Head of Year of the BA in Brand Building and Management Degree in Cape Town during 2008 as well as Co-Head of Year for the Honours Degree in Brand Leadership in Cape Town. Thys has a B.Proc. degree from RAU (UJ), an LLB degree from the University of Pretoria, but felt that law was rather dry and started to see the light when hecompleted a post-grad diploma in Brand Contact Management at Vega. His keen interest for information, expression and the human condition is nudging him to enrol for a Masters Degree soon. He consults as a strategist to various agencies and private clients in his spare time and is about to launch a consultancy that hopes to inspire and enable a new generation of ideas people. In the unlikely event that he might have a spare moment; Thys loves film, friendsand food.
